Preparing for plaster – Day 86 – November 17, 2017

Plenty of activity onsite with progress marching towards the lock-up stage. Some wet weather during the week stopped cladding from commencing so we’re expecting that to start this coming Monday.

Progress for the week

  • Bath installed
  • Flashing applied to top of brickwork
  • Eaves installed
  • Cavity sliding door mechanism installed
  • Frame squared up in preparation for plaster
  • Metal rails fixed to ceiling in preparation for plaster
  • Various cladding materials delivered to site, ready for installation next week
  • More plumbing rough-in
  • A couple of temporary doors installed

Nothing much new to show from the front.

Double cavity sliding doors in the office.

Eaves installed around the entire home.

View down the hallway to the temporary front door.

Cladding to be used on the second storey has been delivered to site.

Metal rails have been fixed to the ceiling throughout the entire house. Plaster sheets will be fixed to these after the electrical rough-in has been completed.

Flashing has been applied to the top of the brickwork. This will provide a weatherproof seal between the top of the brickwork and the cladding on the second storey.

A pack of spotted gum boards. These will be fixed to the front of the house where there is no brickwork (around the office).

Second floor windows – Day 74 – November 5, 2017

Things have slowed down with the next stage of construction waiting for scaffolding to be erected and tradespeople to become available.

This weeks inspection showed the following updates

  • Scaffolding erected on second storey
  • Plumbing installed between 2nd storey and ground floor
  • Windows installed on second storey

Next stage should see cladding installed on the second storey as we move towards the lock-up milestone.

See below for some recent photos, a walkthrough of the second storey and some drone footage showing the surrounding area.

Current view from the front. When the scaffolding comes down next time we’ll have a view much closer to the finished design.

Plumbers have been busy installing drainage for bathrooms and toilets upstairs.

Birds eye view of the house and surrounding blocks yet to be developed.

A view of the house and surrounding area. Directly behind our block will be another row of houses, bordering the road currently being built. Further North is the wetland area and off in the distance you can sea the new Torquay Coast Primary School that the boys will attend.

Roof on, plumbing rough-in – Day 44 – October 6, 2017

Plenty of progress occurring this week

  • Fixed an issue with the doorway between the garage and hallway
  • Roof, facia and guttering installed on main roof areas
  • Spotted gum posts installed in kitchen and at front porch
  • Rough-in of plumbing; water (hot, cold and recycled) and gas
  • Rectify issue with roof trusses for garage

Next week should see windows installed on the ground floor, insulation wrap applied and brick work commencing.

Main roof done.

We’ve now got a doorway where we need it.

Rough-in for plumbing has been done. Hot and cold water hoses in the laundry.

Spotted gum posts installed in the kitchen area to provide additional structural support. The yellow hose visible above the posts is the gas line.

Bricks have arrived onsite. The brickies will start work next Tuesday.

More spotted gum posts at the front porch.
