Ready for plaster – Day 106 – December 7, 2017

Insulation has been installed in the walls and ceiling space and plaster has been delivered to site ready for the plasterers to start on Saturday

We carried out a walkthrough of the build to inspect the location of all electrical work prior to plastering commencing.

Nothing new from the outside

Plaster sheets ready to be hung.

Insulation batts installed throughout the house.

Vents for the heating and cooling system.

One last look at all the utilities before the plaster goes on.

Exterior cladding update – Day 100 – December 1, 2017

The external cladding is almost complete with only a small section remaining on the eastern side of the house. This is due to a window needing to be replaced before cladding can be completed – wrong type of window with top of vanity running directly into window .

It was a good time to get the cladding installed with an inch of rain falling over the weekend.

Next week should see the completion of external cladding, rough-in of the heating/cooling system, install of insulation batts and perhaps a start on plastering.

The facade starting to take shape. Bricks around the garage will be rendered and paint applied to the cladding on the second storey. Will be good when the scaffolding finally comes down.

Shiplap cladding installed around the office and porch.

Exterior cladding progress – Day 93 – November 24, 2017

After a few weeks of delays the cladding has started this week. Spotted gum shiplap around the front of the office and Axon (vertical) and Linea (horizontal) cladding around the second storey. It will be good to see the green insulation wrap disappear as more cladding is installed this week.

Further progress inside with the vacuum ducting installed.

Another material added to the facade – spotted gum on the front of the office.

Electrical rough-in – Day 89 – November 20, 2017

The electricians were onsite today, roughing-in the cabling for electricity, data and TV. As each of the services get added, it starts to feel closer to the home we’ve been dreaming about all these months.

The utility highway. Power, water (re-cycled, fresh and hot), gas, data and TV.

Spaghetti junction

One of the things I’m most looking forward to – NBN (blue data cable) right to the desk.

Preparing for plaster – Day 86 – November 17, 2017

Plenty of activity onsite with progress marching towards the lock-up stage. Some wet weather during the week stopped cladding from commencing so we’re expecting that to start this coming Monday.

Progress for the week

  • Bath installed
  • Flashing applied to top of brickwork
  • Eaves installed
  • Cavity sliding door mechanism installed
  • Frame squared up in preparation for plaster
  • Metal rails fixed to ceiling in preparation for plaster
  • Various cladding materials delivered to site, ready for installation next week
  • More plumbing rough-in
  • A couple of temporary doors installed

Nothing much new to show from the front.

Double cavity sliding doors in the office.

Eaves installed around the entire home.

View down the hallway to the temporary front door.

Cladding to be used on the second storey has been delivered to site.

Metal rails have been fixed to the ceiling throughout the entire house. Plaster sheets will be fixed to these after the electrical rough-in has been completed.

Flashing has been applied to the top of the brickwork. This will provide a weatherproof seal between the top of the brickwork and the cladding on the second storey.

A pack of spotted gum boards. These will be fixed to the front of the house where there is no brickwork (around the office).
